SACED S.p.A. was founded in 1953 by a group of business people from Catania who, having foreseen the construction development that the area would undergo, saw in the production of lime a profitable industrial business.
Production of calcium oxide began in 1955 with just one furnace.
With the installation, at a later stage, of a hydration system, hydrated lime, which was totally unknown in Sicily at that time, started to be marketed.
Three years on a second furnace was created, followed by a third one in the 1960s. Iron, petrochemical and sugar industries also became established in Sicily in those years. Thus creating a new trend in the lime market and a turning point for SACED.
In the 1970s, SACED started producing Slaked lime, which it was the sole producer of in Eastern Sicily for about a decade.
As seen in its history, SACED exclusively operates in the lime production sector, by entirely covering the calcium oxide derivative range.
In 1994 the construction of the new state-of-the-art “Cim Reversy” furnace began, replacing the existing furnaces.
This allowed further improvements in product quality and the achievement of remarkable results in terms of quality control, capacity, energy savings and, no less important, the problem of environment protection.
In 1997, upon completion of the industrial projects undertaken, SACED was awarded the Quality System Certification for UNI EN ISO 9002, thanks to the work made by both Management and Personnel.
